IVS Hosts 27th and 28th Convocations

The Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture (IVS) hosted two convocation ceremonies over the weekend. After a wait of a year, students from the Class of 2020 received their degrees on the 26th of February, Saturday, and the Class of 2021 had its convocation ceremony on 27th of February, Sunday.

Philanthropist, businessman, and co-founder of The Citizen’s Foundation (TCF), Mr. Mushtaq Chhapra delivered the keynote speech at the 27th Convocation. He encouraged the Class of 2020 to build a vision and use it to overcome any challenges that lay ahead.

Scriptwriter, journalist and President of the Geo Television Network, Mr. Imran Aslam, delivered the keynote address on the 28th Convocation for the Class of 2021. He urged them to take pride in their roles as artists.

The country needs forms of beauty so that it can banish the ugliness of imposed landscapes. It cries out for the appreciation of diversity and indigenous crafts. It needs the healing touch, which only you as artisans can provide to this festering,” he claimed.

His inspirational speech moved the audience and will surely be imprinted in the minds of the graduates for years to come.

The Class of 2020 comprised of 134 students, of whom 22 students are from the Department of Architecture, 23 students from the Department of Interior Design, 39 students from the Department of Communication Design, 24 students from the Department of Textile Design and 26 students from the Department of Fine Art.

The Class of 2021 consisted of 128 students, of whom there are 20 students are from the Department of Architecture, 13 students from the Department of Interior Design, 33 students from the Department of Communication Design, 20 students from the Department of Fine Art and 40 students from the Department of Textile Design. The 40 students in the Department of Textile Design include 26 students of the Textile Design Programme and 14 students of the Fashion Design programme; this was the School’s first batch of Fashion Design graduates. 

Top students from both classes received awards for achieving excellence in their thesis projects, producing outstanding portfolios and maintaining high grades throughout their academic careers.

Graduates Abeer Nomani, Adiya Ahmed Khan, Fatima Aamir, Sakshi Kumar, Radhya Kareem, Neha Awais, Danish Shivani, Syeda Baheeja Ahmed and Shanzeh Fatima from the Class of 2020 received awards for their academic performance.

From the Class of 2021, awards were given to Um E Aimun, Mashaal Amjad, Bushra Zeeshan, Safi Mansoor Khalil, Hafsa Ashfaque, Mashaal Amjad, Amna Sadiq Feroz, Anushay Rehman, Wajeeha Khan, Muhammad Uzair, Ramsha Faisal Dyer, and Wajeeha Khan.  

Both convocations were live-streamed on the official Facebook page of the university.
