| The Nusserwanjee Building Project is unique in the architectural history of the subcontinent. The Nusserwanjee Building is a 100 year old Kharadar landmark, named after Karachi philanthropist, Jamshed Nusserwanjee. Today, it has been relocated, stone by stone, to become a part of the IVS campus. A monumental undertaking, all 20,000 sq. ft. of the building has been transported to a beautiful new site by the sea. Each of its 26,000 stones is rich in history and beauty, and each is being preserved for future generations to come. This vast undertaking commenced in January 1998 and is now nearing completion. Currently, the east wing has been completed and it is hoped the west wing shall be complete by the end of this year. Funding constraints have limited the pace of the work and are holding back the work on the west wing of the building. The realisation of this Project has required the contribution of many individuals. So far the Nusserwanjee (and IVS) has been built with the help and generosity of a number of individuals and corporations who have become its sponsors. The Project is currently facing a shortfall and IVS now looks to you for support. Your valuable contribution will be used to help preserve and infuse life into our precious building. For more information on how you can help, please contact Mr. Mazhar Ali Nanjiani at Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture. |
